WHAT WE TEST

Twenty parameters. One clear picture of your water.

Most water tests tell you one number and leave you to guess what it means. We built Pure Clarity Labs to do the opposite — a full panel, tested with lab-grade instruments, explained in plain language.

Every kit covers physical clarity, chemistry, and microbiology — the three dimensions that actually shape how your water looks, tastes, and affects your home and health. Nothing here is about passing a regulation. It's about understanding what's coming out of your tap.

PHYSICAL CLARITY

Turbidity & true color

The first signs of how clean your water really looks. Elevated turbidity can point to aging pipes, sediment, or a filter that isn't keeping up. Color changes often trace back to dissolved organics or trace metals. We measure both with a calibrated turbidimeter, not a visual estimate.

CORE CHEMISTRY

pH, TDS & conductivity

The baseline profile of your water. These numbers shape everything from taste to how corrosive or scale-forming your water is likely to be over time.

MINERALS & METALS

Hardness, iron, manganese, copper, zinc, fluoride, sulfate & nitrates

This is where most of the "why does my water taste like that" and "why is there staining on my fixtures" questions get answered. Each one is measured with a dedicated colorimetric method — not a strip, not an estimate. We also test ammonia, which often shows up alongside chloramine-based disinfection.

DISINFECTION RESIDUALS

Free chlorine, total chlorine & hydrogen sulfide

These change fast — sometimes within minutes of leaving the tap. Instead of losing accuracy in the mail, you test these two yourself at the moment of collection, using simple strips included in your kit. It's the only way to get a reading that reflects your water as it actually is at your faucet.

Microbiology

Total coliforms, E. coli, and HPC (heterotrophic plate count) — tested using membrane filtration, the same method used in professional environmental labs. This is the layer that tells you about biological activity: whether there's biofilm building up in a showerhead, a supply line, or an aerator. It can be added to any kit, whether you're testing a single tap or comparing your whole home.

HPC in particular is one of the most useful — and most overlooked — indicators. It doesn't just flag contamination; it tells you where bacteria are actively growing in your home's plumbing, often well before it's visible or detectable by smell.

Lead — coming soon

For lead, precision matters more than convenience. We're working on a partnership with a certified lab using ICP-MS — the gold-standard method — so results will be trustworthy down to parts per billion once this add-on becomes available. It isn't offered yet, but it's on our roadmap.

Why test more than one tap

Water can change meaningfully between your kitchen sink and your shower — different pipes, different fixtures, different exposure to standing water. Our multi-tap panels let you compare filtered vs. unfiltered, or drinking water vs. shower water, so you're seeing the real pattern in your home, not a single snapshot.
